How can we know God personally?

By Praising Him for who He is.

Spend time praising God for who He is by focusing on His attributes. You can think of your own attribute, or check out an A-Z list here. Search the Scriptures to find out what God says about Himself and begin to worship Him for who He is. The list is endless!

By thanking him for what he has done.

Think back over your life and remember when God has demonstrated His nature to you. Consider His faithfulness revealed in Scripture as well. Give thanks to God for revealing Himself to you and cultivate a heart of gratitude.

By discovering him in his word.

Prayer is about listening to God's voice as well as talking to Him. There's no better place to learn about God's will and character than through His Word. It's so encouraging to know that God has 20/20 vision for your life, and He wants to speak to you about His plans for you...if only you'll draw near. How often do we take the time to sit and rest in the presence of God? This could mean spending time outside enjoying the beauty of His creation, or lounging inside on a favorite sofa listening to worship music. The important part is to focus your attention on the reality of God's presence and worship the God who created you. What causes you to connect with God's presence?
